Played Dying Light 2 Stay Human – Avellon and does not smell
Dying Light 2 Stay Human It turned out to be a long -standing involuntarily. Studio Techland planned to release the game at the beginning of 2020, but in the end the release moved as much as 2022; During this time, the project managed to lose the narrative designer – Chris Avellon. As a result, the continuation Dying Light will come out as long as seven years and one generation of consoles after the original. And although the second part noticeably exceeds the first in almost every aspect, it does not differ radically from its predecessor.
Run on the roofs
According to the plot, 15 years have passed since the onset of the zombie apocalypse. Humanity rolled into a real Middle Ages: death lies in wait at every step, the necessary resources for everyone is not enough for everyone, people bite each other in the pharynx for any reason. The events of Dying Light 2 Stay Human unfold in the city cut off from the outside world (the settlement is called), where the main character named Aiden went in search of a sister. But upon arrival, he turns out to be drawn into the showdown of local gangs: one of them almost hung a protagonist, suspecting that he was infected. And the head of the second group was recently killed, so the guys decided to quickly use the services of a stranger and ask him to investigate the case. Nevertheless, Eiden, whom no one knows in the city, will be easier to rub in confidence in the suspects.
From this begins a demo version, behind which I spent several hours. The main character gets acquainted with Sophie (one of the leaders of the gang who almost hung him), looking for her brother, monitors the bandits, attacks their base … Dying Light 2 carefully works out all the gameplay cliches in the open world. Assault on the Avvanposts, clushing on the towers, detective vision, illuminating all the most important – does not even try to offer anything unusual.
On the other hand, the gameplay itself is felt much more convenient than in the first part. Aiden is very mobile: he jumps high, clutching any ledges and cleverly climbs the walls. He easily flees that from a zombie, that from ordinary people – I will not be surprised if, at the proper level of pumping, the hero literally learn to run over his heads. In addition, the parkour is really pleasant here. The game is well conveys the speed of Aiden and gives the player a lot of ways to shine with dexterity: the area available to the demo is tightly built up with small buildings to make where to run along the roofs. Together with the towers, this fragment Dying Light 2 greatly resembles classic Assassin’s Creed – At least in terms of entourage.
Unfortunately, the convenience of movement made the location rather faceless: wherever you look, the architecture is the same everywhere
True, when it comes to battles, the comparison ceases to justify himself: the opponents of Ezio and Altair patiently waited for their turn before the attack, and zombies in Dying Light 2 are not very polite and much more numerous. It is worth Aiden to stop in order to quickly deal with the special infected, as a crowd of enemies gathers around him immediately. And the hero’s weapons are not serious: some pipes and axes that become worthless after a couple of dozen strokes. There was still some kind of firearm in the first part, but here it is good if at least the bow falls.
However, the battles in Dying Light 2 are much more comfortable than before: enemies noticeably less often prevent the hero from conducting strong blows. Fast combo still stun opponents, kicks are thrown back, and a jerk to the side allows you to effectively move away from powerful attacks. It is extremely useful in fights with large opponents, but the small ones are still taking in number. Still, Aiden is limited by the margin of endurance, so it endlessly wave an ax, as in some Left 4 Dead 2 , He cannot. So in the open world it is better not to be distracted by endless crowds of zombies and focus on tasks.
In the afternoon and night
As in the first Dying Light, a change https://sister-site.org/sweety-win/ in the time of day plays an important role. Zombies are afraid of light, so there will be fewer opponents on the streets during the day: they hide in the rooms. However, there, as a rule, there is all the valuable loot, so it is contraindicated to engage in gathering in the light of day – many quests specifically squeeze the time before sunset. But after sunset, Eiden has to fight a different threat: the locals suspicions turned out to be true – the hero is really infected with the virus.
In the dark, Aiden's immunity is constantly falling – to restore it, you need to become under ultraviolet lamps, carefully placed in key locations. And in their absence, you can use special mushrooms and use inhalers, which, like inilers, need to crash from improvised components. It would seem that finding chamomile and honey in the city for creating medicines should not be so simple … However, the locals prudently put up bee hives on the roofs of houses and even planted the right flowers. The abundance of ownerless loot also looks a little strange. It is clear that he lies there only so that the player has pockets, but more than ten years have passed since the disaster – it is impossible to believe that during this time organized groups of the survivors did not bother to take away all any useful things to their hands.
And it will have to collect any rubbish very, very often. From valuable trinkets that will go for sale, to craft ingredients, weapons and trophies necessary to improve recipes. In particularly rare army chests, you can also find inhibitors that allow you to pump health or endurance-you may have to compete with mini-bosses for them.
Another important part of the Dying Light 2 gameplay should be a hook, but for some reason it was not in the demo version. But the authors showed a segment with a paragraph, which will come in handy in the center of the city, where the skyscraper is full. He jumped from the roof, opened the glider – and steam to the next building. And if the player suddenly loses control and lands too early, then it doesn’t matter: on strong air flows from ventilation holes you can quickly return to the sky. It is only a pity that it is far from being so convenient to control the glider as in the same Breath of the Wild.
Close eyes and ears
Although, in general, the gaming process Dying Light 2 does not shine with originality, it shows noticeable progress in comparison with the first part – especially in everything regarding the action. However, the announcement of the game attracted the attention of the public primarily by the promises of a curious narrative experiment. Chris Abellon, who first presented the game, promised a deep plot taking into account every player's decision.
According to the results of a short demo version, it is impossible to fully say whether this is really so, but it seemed to me that my actions did not affect the development of history. Say, in the second half of Demo, Aiden launches a power station in the city center and must decide which group to give it to: strict peacekeepers or freedom -loving surviving. I chose the first to make the building automatically stained in their colors. The statists showered the hero with gratitude, but his partner, who sympathizes with the other side of the conflict, almost did not respond to what happened: they say, your business, do as you know. Therefore, the weight of an important (as an idea) solution is not felt at all.
In the next mission, the game proposed to clean three roofs of high -rise buildings with a time limit. Pinks to face people from a great height is always fun, but it is quite strange to see that they do not really resist their fate
From the project, whose face, Chris Abellon spoke for a long time, is predictably waiting for a more or less high-quality scenario, but … Chris himself suggests that there is nothing left of his work in the game. The current Dying Light 2 was written medium at best, and at worst it causes Spanish shame. The authors are constantly trying to unscrew emotions to the maximum, but they use terribly tasteless tricks for this, familiar from David Cage's work. Each death must be picture, every moment of sadness or joy necessarily happens in increased colors; Almost no one is talking here without exclamation signs. If any girl asks you to find her boyfriend in a dangerous zone, then for eating motivation she must certainly say “I am pregnant”, otherwise how else can she empathize.
Comment by Chris Abellon to this material:
To pay tribute – I did not write the Dying Light 2 script. A few years ago I prepared 5-6 stories in the spirit Fallout: New Vegas. But for the entire plot and NPC in the latest version, the internal team was responsible. Thank her if you like the story.
I especially remember the quest with a little girl who wants to punish the bandits who stole her music box. When Aiden at her request is dealing with the first portion of villains, the girl immediately sends him to hunt for the second, but she says that he can leave the desired box and even sell. Excuse me, why then risk your life for some trinkets, for which everything was started? It feels like the developers simply wanted to make a battle with a zombie under a terrible melody, and the plot background for this scene was written like. This “ANB SO” is not enough to give the player a clear motivation to run around the city back and forth, performing such stupid tasks for tens of hours.
As for the graphics, everything was in order with her on powerful PCs: Dying Light 2 looks like a modern Crossgen-Tailet. All scenes are held with a first -person view, the production is very good, let it not at the level Cyberpunk 2077. But on PS4 the situation is alarming. Everything, of course, is not as nightmare as in the first Dying Light, but the picture looks good only in statics: for example, during dialogues. And you just have to move off, as the screen floats, everything is blurring, the fragment of Frameite is beaten in the eyes – for playing with a strong accent on the speed and dynamics of gameplay, this is a critical drawback.
Otherwise, Dying Light 2 is a typical sequel. If you hoped for a game of a fundamentally different level of quality, it is better to reduce expectations in order: the continuation adopted almost all the pros and cons of the original. On the other hand, if you are a Dying Light fan and all these years wanted to see something more and better, then most likely the second part will not disappoint.
The material was fixed and supplemented after Chris Avellon was sentenced.
